In its first season in the FBS, Jacksonville State will be playing in a bowl game due to there not being enough bowl-eligible teams.
The Gamecocks (8-4) will be motivated for their matchup against Louisiana (6-6) in the New Orleans Bowl. However, the Ragin’ Cajuns have proven they can compete at a high level as well, which should make for a competitive clash.

Jacksonville State is a -3 college football betting odds favorite against Louisiana, with the Over/Under being 59.5.
The moneyline for Jax State is -160, while it’s +130 for the Ragin’ Cajuns.

The Jax State-Louisiana matchup in the New Orleans Bowl will be televised on ESPN.
The game will take place at 2:15 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 16, at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

I’m picking Jacksonville State to win and cover the spread at -3. I also am predicting this game will go Over 59.5 total points.
This Jacksonville State program had something to prove all year, and the Gamecocks showed they are worthy of competing at the FBS level. But a victory in a bowl game would cement that.
Their offense and their defense have both been playing well recently. They’ve limited their last four Group of Five opponents to 20 or fewer points and average 29.8 points per game for the season on offense.
Meanwhile, Louisiana has lost three of its last four outings and gave up about 31 points per game during that stretch. I think the Gamecocks have an advantage on both sides of the ball and could win by double digits.
