SMU is still tied for the lead in the AAC standings. But one loss could prevent the Mustangs from playing for the conference title.
SMU (7-2, 5-0 AAC) is hosting North Texas (3-6, 1-4) at 9 p.m. ET on Friday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas.

North Texas vs. SMU Prediction
I’m picking SMU to win but for North Texas to cover the spread at +17. I also am predicting the game will go Over 68.5 total points.
I think this will be a high-scoring contest. SMU (40 points per game) and North Texas (34.8 points per game) are in the top three in the AAC in terms of scoring offense.
But SMU’s defense, which has allowed the fewest points in the league with 15.9 per game, should make the plays necessary for the Mustangs to win. I think they’ll end up with a 10-point victory.
