North Texas seemed like it would be in contention for an AAC Championship appearance earlier this season. Now the Mean Green are fighting just to earn bowl-eligibility.
UNT was 5-1 just a few weeks ago, with its only loss being at Texas Tech. But the Mean Green have lost their last three games against Memphis, Tulane, and Army – all tough conference foes.
Now they’ll be looking to bounce back and earn that sixth win tonight, but it won’t be easy. The Mean Green are on the road this week as they take on UTSA, which was 2-4 overall to begin the season but has won two of its past three contests, including a victory over Memphis.

North Texas vs. UTSA Prediction
I predict North Texas will win and cover the spread at +1.5. I also project the game will go Over 72.5 total points.
I anticipate this will be a high-scoring clash. UTSA has scored 36 or more points in each of its past three games and has given up more than 40 points in each of its past two outings.
North Texas is also a team that likes to win in shootouts. The Mean Green are 17th in the country with 36.6 points per game scored. Before its last game, which was a 14-3 loss against Army, UNT put up at least 37 points in three straight games. In those three matchups, the Mean Green also gave up 37 points or more.
But I believe North Texas has a slightly stronger roster. UNT quarterback Chandler Morris is top five in the country with 3,087 passing yards at this point in the season, and I think he finds a way to lead his team to another victory and to bowl-eligibility.
