Who would have thought Ohio would have won 10 games in back-to-back seasons?
The Bobcats only combined to win five games in the two seasons prior. Now, head coach Tim Albin has the program in a great spot. This year will be an interesting one for the Bobcats, though, as they lost nearly all of their starters from a year ago.
College football betting odds certainly don’t indicate the Bobcats can match last year’s win total. The Over/Under for their wins is 6.5, with the Over at +110 and the Under at -135.

How Many Games Will Ohio Win In 2024?
There’s a real chance the Bobcats go 1-3 in non-conference play. If that’s the case, then they’ll need to find a way to pick up five wins against their MAC opponents to find a way to a bowl game. It’ll also be tough for them to reach that seven-win mark.
After defeating Morgan State in Week 3, Ohio should be able to win its first conference game against Akron. They’ll then visit Central Michigan following a bye week. This one could be a toss-up, as CMU can’t be overlooked.
Regardless of what happens against CMU, I think the Bobcats’ next win will come in Week 9 versus Buffalo. Expectations aren’t high for the Bulls, and the home team is 11-2 in this series. Off another bye week, I expect Ohio to pick up a victory at Kent State and then at home against Eastern Michigan.
The Bobcats should also close out the season with a win against Ball State.
How Many Games Will Ohio Win in 2024?
Syracuse isn’t a powerhouse, and if this was last year’s Ohio team I would roll with the Bobcats. But I can’t picture this Ohio team going into JMA Wireless Dome and picking up a win — even if it is in head coach Fran Brown’s first season leading the Orange.
I also don’t see the Bobcats beating their other Power Four opponent when they visit Kentucky on Sept. 21.
There are really only two league games that don’t look to be in Ohio’s favor this season. The first is when they visit Miami (Ohio) in Week 8, and the second is when they visit Toledo in Week 12. There’s still a chance the Bobcats come away with wins here, of course, but as of right now, it looks like these two squads might be a little much for Ohio this season.
Ohio Football Bet Prediction
There’s one game I haven’t talked about yet, and that’s the Week 2 home meeting with South Alabama. Both teams are in a very similar situation after losing a ton of seniors and entering the year with only a few returning starters. It’ll come down to whichever team’s inexperience shows less.
I think the outcome of this game will ultimately be the deciding factor in whether the Bobcats go Over or Under 6.5 wins, and I like Albin to have his squad pulling away with a win here.
It’s not going to be easy, and it might be ugly, but I would put my money on Ohio to find a way to get to seven wins.
