Ohio has been a pretty consistent Group of Five program this season.
The Bobcats are 5-3 overall and 3-1 in MAC play. They’ve only lost to two Power Four programs, Syracuse and Kentucky, as well as at Miami (Ohio). They’re undefeated at home, though, with wins over teams like South Alabama and Buffalo which both have chances to earn bowl-eligibility.
The Bobcats will likely need another win this week if they want to remain in contention for a MAC Championship appearance. They’ll go on the road to take on Kent State, which is 0-8 this season and only two of those games have been within one possession.
But could the Golden Flashes finally get their first win of the year against Ohio?

Ohio vs. Kent State Prediction
I predict Ohio will win and cover the spread at -20.5. I also project the game will go Under 52.5 total points.
The Bobcats have proven they will take care of teams that they should. And they’ve won in a variety of ways. They beat Central Michigan 27-25 a few weeks ago (not a very high-scoring game) and most recently put up a good amount of points and defeated Buffalo 47-16.
Kent State has been better on offense in recent weeks, tallying at least 21 points in three of its last four outings.
But I don’t think that trend continues against Ohio. I’m expecting the Bobcats’ defense will play at a high level in this matchup, and I also anticipate Ohio will control time of possession on offense. The Bobcats may not put up 40 points again, but I think they will dominate the line of scrimmage and will end up winning by three touchdowns.
