Patrick McMorris is transferring from San Diego State to Cal, he announced Saturday on Twitter.
McMorris was a two-time All-Mountain West first-team selection the past two seasons. In 2022, he was on the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List and the Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List.
Last season, McMorris totaled 61 tackles, 2.5 for loss, with six passes defended, an interception, and a fumble recovery. In 2021, he recorded 90 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, 13 passes defended, four interceptions, and a fumble recovery.
McMorris is joining a secondary that certainly needs help. Cal allowed the ninth-most passing yards per game (278.1) in the country in 2022.
