Keshawn King is transferring from Virginia Tech to Western Michigan, he announced Sunday on Twitter.
King is heading to a Group of Five school after leading Virginia Tech with 443 rushing yards in 2022. He scored three touchdowns on the ground and added 137 yards and a score on 20 receptions as well.
King, at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds, also paced the team with 680 all-purpose yards after adding 100 yards on kick returns. He started eight games and played in nine in 2022.
In nine appearances and one start in 2021, he rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries while totaling 52 yards and a touchdown on two catches.
King, who’s from Apopka, Florida, also played in 2020 and 2019. He was a four-star recruit out of high school while playing at Oakleaf.
Sean Tyler, who led Western Michigan and was top five in the MAC with 1,027 rushing yards in 2022, transferred to Minnesota this offseason.
WMU was among the bottom three teams in the conference with 136.3 rushing yards per game, so King could help the Broncos be more well-rounded on offense. Western Michigan will be entering its first season with former Louisville offensive coordinator Lance Taylor as the program’s head coach.
