Both South Alabama and Georgia State are aiming to end losing streaks tonight.
The Jaguars are 1-6 having lost six straight, albeit against many competitive programs including Tulane, Auburn, North Texas, and Troy. And many of those contests have been close.
All but one of South Alabama’s losses have been decided by two possessions or less. The Jaguars most recently fell in another weekday game against Arkansas State 15-14.
Georgia State is also 1-6 and is on a four-game losing streak. The Panthers have lost by wider margins, though they did keep it close against James Madison.
So not only are these teams aiming to get back in the win column, they’re looking for their first Sun Belt victories of the year.

South Alabama vs. Georgia State Prediction
I predict South Alabama wins but Georgia State covers the 6.5-point spread. I also project the game will go Over 54.5 total points.
The Jaguars have been far from perfect on both sides of the ball, but they’ve been better than Georgia State.
South Alabama is ninth in the Sun Belt in scoring defense with 29.3 points per game allowed and 10th in scoring offense with 22.1 points per game scored. GSU is last (41.1 PPG allowed) and second-to-last (18.9 PPG) in those respective categories.
And the Jaguars actually haven’t been terrible in terms of yardage. They rank seventh in the league in total offense (365.9 yards per game) and fifth in total defense (370.4 YPG allowed).
I don’t expect Georgia State to lose easily. Looking at the rest of the Panthers’ schedule, this might be their last best opportunity to win a game. That’s especially true considering this one is at home, and three of their last four contests are on the road.
Still, I anticipate South Alabama quarterback Bishop Davenport, running back Kentrel Bullock, and wide receiver Devin Voisin will make critical plays in a back-and-forth game en route to a victory on the road.
