Former New Mexico quarterback Devon Dampier announced Wednesday he’s committed to Utah where he’ll be reunited with former Lobos’ offensive coordinator Jason Beck.
Dampier was one of the Mountain West’s most exciting players this season, racking up 3,934 yards and 31 total touchdowns (19 rushing and 12 passing), but he’s not the only player in the conference that is creating waves in the transfer portal.
Here’s a look at five former Mountain West players who are likely to have plenty of suitors in the portal and a few more names to keep an eye on.

OT Isaiah World, Nevada
World started 34 straight games at left tackle and earned All-Mountain West honorable mention honors in each of the past two seasons. The 6-foot-8, 309-pounder has one season of eligibility left and should find plenty of options in the portal.
QB Mikey Keene, Fresno State
Keene struggled to protect the ball this season, throwing 11 interceptions, but he was one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the Mountain West. The senior has started 23 games for the Bulldogs and thrown 42 touchdowns passes the past two seasons after beginning his career at UCF in 2021.
QB Malachi Nelson, Boise State
The former five-star prospect and ESPN’s No. 1 recruit in the 2022 class left USC to join the Broncos in January. Nelson lost a fall camp battle for the starting spot to Maddux Madsen and only appeared in three games and completed just 12 passes this season.
RB Eli Sanders, New Mexico
Sanders and Dampier emerged as one of the most dangerous rushing duos in the Mountain West. Sanders, who joined the Lobos this year after two seasons at Iowa State, finished No. 2 at New Mexico with 1,063 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.
WR Caleb Goodie, Colorado State
Goodie emerged as the Rams’ go-to deep threat after fellow wide receiver Tory Horton’s season was cut short because of injuries. The 6-1, 170-pound sophomore led the Rams this season with 436 yards on 21 catches, averaging 20.7 yards per catch. He also led the team with four touchdown catches.
