In many people’s minds, Western Kentucky was the preseason favorite to win the Conference USA Championship this year. The Hilltoppers are off to an inconsistent start at 3-2 overall, but they won their first CUSA game of the season last week against Middle Tennessee.
WKU is hoping to earn its first road win of the season against Louisiana Tech, which is 3-3 overall and 2-0 in CUSA play, at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday.

I’m picking Western Kentucky to win and cover the spread at -6.5. I also anticipate the game will go Under 59.5 total points.
Western Kentucky’s offense, led by quarterback Austin Reed and wide receiver Malachi Corley, will play well enough to win by a touchdown. But Louisiana Tech’s defense has been solid the past couple weeks and should give WKU some problems.
Louisiana Tech may keep this close going into the fourth quarter, but I think WKU can win 28-21.
