Welcome to the 2022 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Leading up to Week 0 games on Aug. 27, HERO Sports will name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-0. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on last season’s rosters.
The 99-0 countdown central page can be found here.
Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2021 rosters.
79: Noah Atagi, OL (Jr.) — Weber State
Weber State football is in Atagi’s blood.
His father Miller was a Weber offensive lineman from 1990-93. And his brother Ethan is currently an OL for the Wildcats after transferring from BYU in the summer of 2020. Ethan is a massive 6-foot-5 and 355 pounds. Noah is a little “smaller” at 6-foot-4 and 325 pounds.
Noah has developed into a top OL in the Big Sky Conference. The veteran is a three-year starter dating back to his redshirt freshman season in 2019. He is also a two-year captain, earned First Team All-Conference honors in the 2021 spring and fall seasons, and was named a HERO Sports Sophomore All-American twice (due to the COVID year in the 2021 spring).
The left tackle is a fierce blocker for a team that plays a physical brand of football.
“Noah Atagi is a big, strong, athletic offensive tackle, for sure one of the best o-lineman in FCS football, if not all of the country,” Weber State head coach Jay Hill said. “He’s a big-time NFL prospect and if he can stay healthy, my guess is has a chance to be drafted.”
Weber should have a strong rushing attack in 2022 between Dontae McMillan and a healthy Josh Davis. The Wildcats eye a return to the bracket after missing the playoffs last season for the first time since 2015.
