Welcome to the 2020 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Throughout the May-August months, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-1. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2019 season.
The full 99-1 countdown/schedule can be found here.
*Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2019 rosters.
76: Spencer Brown, OL (Sr.) — Northern Iowa
Brown is a behemoth on the UNI offensive line. Standing 6-foot-9 and weighing 321 pounds, his Twitter handle @TooTallo_o is fitting.
Brown, a right tackle, is a 2.5-year starter (his 2017 season was cut short with an injury after starting five games). His play was finally recognized last year with a nod on the All-MVFC Second Team.
He now enters his senior season as one of the best offensive linemen in the FCS as Brown was named on our Preseason All-American Third Team.
The NFL buzz around the big man is starting to pick up, too. Brown arrived at UNI weighing 238 pounds. He has built his weight up over the years with that massive frame while maintaining his athleticism.
Brown’s tape has caught the eye of Senior Bowl scouts, the premiere all-star game for NFL prospects.
