48: Evan Veron, LB (Sr.) — Nicholls
Veron has certainly earned everything he's accomplished on the football field for Nicholls. He bided his time and played through injuries to get to where he was last year, and that was being named on the All-Southland Conference First Team.
Veron played in eight games and started five as a freshman in 2016. He played in all 12 games and started three in 2017. But it wasn't until last year when he really took off. A change in the defensive scheme saw him closer to the action. The result was 50 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss and seven sacks.
Veron was an absolute disrupter for offenses. Just look at what he did against the two FBS opponents last year: two TFLs and two sacks vs. Kansas and two TFLs and one sack against Tulane. Veron had at least a partial tackle for loss in every single game and had more than one TFL in seven games.
