2020 FCS Jersey Countdown: 62 — The Best Player Who Wears No. 62 Is Kennesaw State’s Chris Dye

Welcome to the 2020 FCS Jersey Countdown.

Throughout the May-August months, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-1. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2019 season.

The full 99-1 countdown/schedule can be found here.

*Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2019 rosters.

62: Chris Dye, OL (Sr.) — Kennesaw State

The Owls had a new-look offensive line in 2019. Having five new starters up front for a triple-option offense isn’t ideal, but Kennesaw’s rushing attack remained at the top of the FCS.

KSU finished No. 1 in the subdivision with 342.4 rushing yards per game, 20 more than the No. 2 team (Davidson). Dye was a huge part in the success, starting 10 games and earning First Team All-Big South honors.

The 6-foot-3, 296-pound guard has the perfect size and mobility for KSU’s offense.

His collegiate career began at Holmes Community College before transferring to Kennesaw in 2018. Dye didn’t see much action as a sophomore, but his emergence last year was key in the Owls advancing to the second round of the playoffs.
