Welcome to the 2020 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Throughout the May-August months, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-1. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2019 season.
The full 99-1 countdown/schedule can be found here.
*Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2019 rosters.
21: Marcus Knight, RB (Jr.) — Montana
Knight emerged as a much-needed rushing threat to go along with a prolific Montana passing attack. After transferring in from Citrus Community College, Knight’s debut season in 2019 saw him earn several honors — Big Sky Newcomer of the Year, All-Big Sky Third Team, HERO Sports Sophomore All-American and HERO Sports Third Team All-American.
The 6-foot-1, 194-pounder rushed for 1,030 yards on 227 attempts while also being a weapon in the passing game with 34 catches for 277 yards and two touchdowns.
Knight set school records for rushing TDs (23), total TDs (25) and points scored in a season (150).
In 14 games played, Knight scored a touchdown in 12 of them. And he had five games with three rushing touchdowns.
A top RB in the FCS, Knight is on our preseason All-American Second Team.
