The Sun Belt was the big winner on the field in Week 2, running the table against three Big 12 teams, and in the HERO Sports College Football Rankings entering Week 3.
Entering Week 3, 77 FBS teams are still playing (or, in the case of those who haven’t played yet, still planning to play) a fall college football season. And of those 77, five teams jumped at least 10 spots in the Week 2 rankings, led by two Sun Belt teams who jumped at least 20 spots. Arkansas State climbed an FBS-high 23 spots after defeating then-No. 20 Kansas State on the road, South Alabama jumped 20 spots after a Week 1 win over Southern Miss and close Week 2 loss to Tulane, and Louisiana is in the top 20 after a win over then-No. 17 Iowa State.
The Cyclones were the highest-ranked team to lose in Week 2 and one of eight teams who fell at least 10 spots, a group led Navy, who plummeted 19 spots one week after a blowout loss to BYU.
