2020 FCS Jersey Countdown: 23 — The Best Player Who Wears No. 23 Is SLU’s Ferlando Jordan

SLU Athletics

Welcome to the 2020 FCS Jersey Countdown.

Throughout the May-August months, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-1. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2019 season.

The full 99-1 countdown/schedule can be found here.

*Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2019 rosters.

23: Ferlando Jordan, DB (Jr.) — Southeastern Louisiana

Jordan is wearing No. 2 in 2020.

Jordan started every game at cornerback as a redshirt freshman in 2018. He had a strong season for a young DB in a conference with standout wide receivers. Jordan had 10 passes defended and picked off three passes.

Last year, Jordan exploded onto the national scene with his play. He totaled 13 passes defended and had five interceptions. Three of those were pick-sixes.

Jordan’s three interception returns for TDs were 65, 97 and 65 yards. Overall, he had 255 interception return yards.

The 6-foot, 180-pounder was named to the All-Southland Conference First Team and earned All-American honors from HERO Sports, STATS and the AP.

A two-star recruit out of Atlanta, Jordan was a standout DB and wide receiver in high schools. His ball skills are as good as it gets in the FCS and he’s the type of playmaker that gets the attention of NFL scouts.

Just a junior, Jordan enters 2020 a preseason HERO Sports First Team All-American.
