After opening the 2018 FCS season with wins against currently-ranked No. 5 Jacksonville State and FBS East Carolina, many fans and media were wondering just how good North Carolina A&T was. While the question was how competitive could this team be in the playoffs, the assumption was we'd never know because the Aggies looked good enough for another trip to the Celebration Bowl by winning the MEAC.
Things have cooled off since and the Aggies are no longer in the driver's seat to win their conference title. A 22-21 loss to Florida A&M drops them to 2-1 in conference play and 5-2 overall. FAMU is now 4-0 in the MEAC. NC A&T's other loss was to Morgan State out of the MEAC, which did not count toward the conference standings.
