The XFL announced this week that it will make its triumphant return in the year 2020, although apparently it won't feature the nonsense it did back in 2001 like opening game scrambles that replaced the traditional coin toss or halftime antics more appropriate for WWE matches.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the league's return is where it plans on finding a solid crop of quarterbacks. This is especially concerning considering half of the QBs in the NFL were awful this year, including a terrible one that actually made the playoffs.

Vote below for who you believe was the greatest QB in XFL history, including one that ended up having nice success after the league folded with a certain AFC Central team.
And who knows: Maybe someday Johnny Manziel will make this list.

Tommy Maddox – Los Angeles
A bust in Denver after leaving UCLA, Maddox threw for an XFL-best 2,186 yards and was the league's MVP. He went on to throw for over 7,000 yards and 42 touchdowns during five productive seasons with the Steelers.

Mike Pawlawski – San Francisco
The California alum led the Demons to the league's first and only championship where his squad fell to Maddox and L.A.

Jim Druckenmiller – Memphis
Along with Maddox and Pawlawski, Jim Druckenmiller was the only other QB in the XFL to make it through the entire season without getting benched or hurt.

Casey Weldon – Birmingham
Trivia time: Which Florida State QB finished second to Desmond Howard during the 1991 Heisman Trophy voting?
It's easy to forget how dominating Weldon was in college, but he'd go on to throw just one TD pass in the NFL and seven in the XFL.

Kevin McDougal – Chicago
The starting QB for a Notre Dame squad that almost won it all in 1993, McDougal spent time not only in the XFL, but also the NFL, CFL, and AFL.

Jeff Brohm – Orlando
Brohm has followed up his pro career with head coaching success first at Western Kentucky and now with Purdue.

Wally Richardson – New York
Richardon's claim to fame in the NFL: 1 career passing yard (although he did throw for 812 yards and 6 touchdowns in Vince McMahon's league).

Ryan Clement – Las Vegas
Clement would never get a whiff of the NFL, but did thrwo for 805 yards in the XFL.

Tim Lester – Chicago
As a starter, Lester threw for just four touchdowns. These days he's the head coach at his alma mater Western Michigan.
