"Neither Coach Davie nor I were satisfied with the results of last season," New Mexico athletics director Eddie Nuñez said on Nov. 30, 2018, six days after the Lobos closed the regular season with seven straight losses to finish 3-9. In that statement, Nuñez announced Davie would return for his eighth season, and as a result, Nuñez avoided paying a $1.3-million buyout.

Eleven months later, New Mexico is riding a five-game losing streak and needs to win one of their final four games to avoid a third straight three-win season. If Nuñez wasn't blowing smoke with his "satisfied" comment last year, he won't be satisfied with the program this year.
