When Desmond Howard struck the Heisman pose in a legendary performance against rival Ohio State in 1991, the race was all but officially over.
Howard would snag 640 first place votes compared to just 19 for runner-up Casey Weldon, and second place was the only drama to come out of the 1991 campaign. Florida State's Weldon edged out Ty Detmer for second despite throwing for 1,500 yards and 13 touchdowns less than the BYU signal caller.
