The sixth-year Washington State head coach was suddenly thrust onto the coaching carousel following the move of Cougars' athletics director Bill Moos to Nebraska. Because Leach and Moos have spoke highly of each other for years, it made sense that Moos would at least consider Leach to replace Mike Riley if Riley is indeed fired.
Leach squashed that, telling Stefanie Loh of the Seattle Times he has no plans to leave Pullman, "I don’t have any plan to do that."
He also said, "They already have a [head coach] there, he’s a pretty good one. Mike Riley."

Leach coached against Riley in the Pac-12 North for three seasons before Riley left Oregon State, and while Riley may have been a good coach in Corvallis, he has not been a good coach in Lincoln — or at the very least, not a good fit.
Riley is 18-15 at Nebraska, including a 3-4 mark this year following back-to-back blowout losses to Wisconsin and Ohio State by an average margin of 31.5 points.
