Easy Solution to Play-Clock Debacle that Nearly Cost SMU vs. Tulsa

On Tulsa's first possession of the first overtime in their eventual triple-overtime loss to SMU, Zach Smith connected with Josh Johnson on a seven-yard touchdown pass. It shouldn't have counted; the play clock hit zero seconds well before the snap. 

Play-clock expiration is not a reviewable play — and frankly it's one of the more difficult calls for an official because they can't watch both the clock and ball simultaneously — and SMU head coach Sonny Dykes went ballistic, demanding an explanation from officials for the remainder of the overtime session.
