The NFL is finally ready for week one, and as the players get set to take the field it's interesting to see where they came from. A look at the alma maters of all NFL players reveals that a few big-name schools lead the way with the most former players now at the next level.
It probably won't surprise you to learn that LSU, Alabama, Miami and Florida are the four FBS schools with at least 40 players in the NFL, and that Ohio State, USC, Florida State, and Clemson aren't too far behind. As you get farther down the top 20, there are a few schools who might surprise you.
Here's a look at the top 20 schools in terms of total NFL players: (Note: Players include 53-man rosters and suspended/injured/reserved players but not practice squad players. Rosters are fluid, so these may not reflect exact numbers as the days go on).
Here's the full list of every FBS school with a player in the NFL. Again, please note NFL rosters are fluid and players are cut and signed every day.
