The 2017 NFL Draft will see talented college football players finding new homes in the NFL come April. Among them are several stars off the roster of the Washington Huskies.
In recent years, the Huskies have produced NFL stars Marcus Peters (Rd 1, 2015 — Kansas City Chiefs), Danny Shelton (1, 2015 — Cleveland Browns) and Desmond Trufant (1, 2013 — Atlanta Falcons), with Shaq Thompson (1, 2015 — Carolina) an upcoming talent.
This year's class will be as deep as any in the school's history in terms of high-round selections.
HEROSports.com's NFL Draft Analyst Todd Worly has ranked three Huskies in the Top 50.
Here are his assessments of each:
At a listed 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, Ross isn’t the biggest of receivers, but his combination of explosiveness, suddenness, top-end speed and hands are unmatched in this draft class. |
At 6-feet and only 181 pounds, Jones is the John Ross of the cornerback class. His combination of feet, explosiveness, recovery speed and hips is unsurpassed in this draft class, but his stock may slip due to his size. |
Baker was a key piece in a stacked Washington secondary this season, and his range and explosiveness are very similar to that of Peppers, Adams and Hooker. Baker plays bigger than his listed size of 5-foot-10 and 192 pounds as he’s a physical and aggressive safety, but his size may affect his ability to tackle at the next level, and that may cause his draft stock to slip a bit. Fans of whichever team Baker is drafted by, however, will fall in love with the way Baker plays the game. |
