Goedert, who racked up nearly 3,000 receiving yards on almost 200 catches, scoring 21 touchdowns as a Jackrabbit, is a first-round pick in McShay's latest mock draft and the No. 1 tight end on his prospect rankings.
McShay lauded Goedert's talents recently on the ESPN First Draft Podcast with Mel Kiper Jr. Here's what McShay had to say:
"The more I watch these tight ends, the more I'm starting to like them. I don't think it's the best group we've had in years, but I do think Dallas Goedert is, I would argue he's the most underrated player in this draft right now."
"I think his value is in the first round, and I think he's becoming a rare two-way tight end, and the more tape I watch, the more I realize that this guy can block legitimately, you can work him inline, you can detach him, he can move block, he can get open down the field, he's a playmaker, he's got a little 'you-know-what' to him, he's a tough guy."
The SDSU tight end is one of 20 FCS players recently invited to the 2018 NFL Combine, where he'll get the chance to further prove he's worthy of an early pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
He's at the top of a group of tight ends considered the best prospects at the position, including Oklahoma's Mark Andrews, South Carolina's Hayden Hurst, Penn State's Mike Gesicki, Wisconsin's Troy Fumagalli, Indiana's Ian Thomas, Florida State's Ryan Izzo and others.
