Northern Iowa knows how to move the ball on offense, as evidenced by its play the past couple of weeks. The coaching staff knows what it like, and that explains the recent commitment of 6-foot-2, 190-pound wide receiver Denzel Fondungallah, who hails from a prestigious school–Cretin Derham Hall in the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul area of Minnesota. Many great athletes and students have come from this school.
Not surprisingly, Fondungallah also had scholarship offers from Columbia and Cornell and has gained serious interest from Minnesota North Dakota State too. He is rated a 2-star prospect by 247Sports.com, and the No. 17 overall prospect in the state of Minnesota.

"UNI just brought the family aspect and they are really focused on getting better in every facet of the game and helping you as a student athlete," Fondungallah told HERO Sports. "What they said about me was that I was a big-time player with the potential to turn the program around to a winning direction, essentially their missing puzzle piece. The MVFC is tough and very competitive and even though NDSU has won the national championship for the past couple of years it definitely wasn't a cakewalk."
Just a few days later, Texas native Lazarus Fisher also joined the class. He also holds a scholarship offer from Air Force.
Future teammates Brock Hadachek and Austin Schirck were stoked with the newest addition to the UNI brotherhood.
"I just took a look at twitter and got a chance to watch his tape," Hadacheck told HERO Sports. "He obviously appears to be a great athlete, and it's exciting to have him join the family."
Schirck agreed.
"I'm glad to see our list of commits is growing, he should be a great addition to the class of 17. That guy can sure play," Schirk told HERO Sports. "I like how he's a big man with speed. Something we might have in common, ha ha."
