It seems that there is one college football upset Saturday every fall and this year that Saturday was November 12. A number of high ranked teams went down as flaws that had started to show themselves over the course of the season so far were finally exposed by teams with nothing to lose and everything to gain. The Pac-12 was among the conferences where a surprise occurred as the surging USC Trojans beat the Washington Huskies.

This was maybe the most demoralizing of the losses by the highly ranked teams on Saturday as Washington was simply outclassed and outplayed by a talent-rich USC team that is playing the sort of football everyone expected from them heading into the season. As you can see from this video it was Sam Darnold of the Trojans and not Jake Browning of the Huskies who was the best quarterback on the field on the day and that position dominance was mirrored in the favor of USC all over the field.
The #4 Huskies though are helped in some ways by the fact that this loss was to a team ranked #20 (now #15) in the country. Unlike the losses by Michigan to Iowa and Clemson to Pitt, the Washington loss is to a team that is clearly on the upswing after a 1-3 stat and that will be expected to finish somewhere in the top 15 (if not top 10) when all is said and done in 2016.
Washington still controls its fate in the Pac-12 North and in order to feature in the playoff they were always going to need to win the conference. Watching this video though you will see that the Huskies still need to improve if they are going to go into any postseason play with the confidence to compete with the best teams in the nation.
