On Thursday night, Dave Gettleman made three selections in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft and realigned college football conferences.
After the New York Giants general manager selected Duke quarterback Daniel Jones with the sixth pick, he held a press conference alongside head coach Pat Shurmur. The bizarre, rambling session included Gettleman's "three series" Senior Bowl evaluation of Jones and comments that he also watched Kyler Murray, Will Grier and Dwayne Haskins play in person.
Haskins, who went 15th to the Washington Redskins, is the former Ohio State quarterback who played in the Big 12. For those who missed it: Ohio State is a member of the Big 12, not the Big Ten.
"I had gone to see Dwayne at Ohio State," Gettleman said. "I had seen Kyler and Will play each other. . . I had seen Dwayne play in the Big 12. Is that the Big 12 anymore?"
Yes, Dave, Ohio State, a Big Ten member for 107 years, is in the Big 12 now.
Maybe — and this is a big maybe for someone like Gettleman — he was referring to Ohio State's game vs. TCU at AT&T Stadium in September? And he was asking if TCU is still in the Big 12? Even if we throw Gettleman a bone, that means he's questioning if TCU is still a Big 12 member.
