In the inaugural NFL Draft in 1936, the Green Bay Packers selected Notre Dame back Wally Fromhart with the seventh pick in the seventh round, or the 61st overall pick. A year later, they took Minnesota end Bud Wilkinson with the ninth pick in the third round, or the 29th overall pick.
Both Fromhart and Wilkinson never played a snap with the Packers or in the NFL. Over the next eight decades, the Packers would select 10 more players in those two draft slots and will select another two at the 2017 NFL Draft, barring a trade.

No. 29
1955 – Buddy Leake – B, Oklahoma
Like Bud Wilkinson 18 years earlier, 1955 third-round pick, Buddy Leake also did not play in the NFL. He did play three seasons in the CFL with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
1957 – Dalton Traux – T, Tulane
The Packers had the 29th pick again in 1957 and drafted Tulane's Dalton Traux. And like his 29th-pick predecessors, he never played for the Packers. Traux played season in the NFL, 1960 with the Oakland Raiders.
1993 – George Teague – FS, Alabama
The Packers finally got a 29th pick onto the field. Teague played three seasons in Green Bay (1993-95) and had six interceptions. His 101-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Detroit Lions in the 1993 playoffs is still an NFL record.
2003 – Nick Barnett – LB, Oregon State
One of the Packers' best late first-round picks of all time, Nick Barnett had 787 tackles and nine interceptions in eight seasons (2003-10). He was an All-Pro in 2007.

No. 61
1948 – Bob Cunz – T, Illinois
An eighth-round pick in 1948, Illini tackle Bob Cunz was one of 29 players drafted by the Packers that year. He also never played in the NFL.
1959 – Willie Taylor – C, Florida A&M
Five of the Packers' top six picks in 1959 played in the league, a rarity at the time, but lineman Willie Taylor was not one of them.
1980 – Syd Kitson – G, Wake Forest
The first 61st-pick to actually play for the Packers, Syd Kitson spent three-plus years in Green Bay (1981-84) before briefly signing with the Dallas Cowboys at the end of the 1984 season.
1987 – Dave Croston – T, Iowa
After helping Iowa win 19 games between 1985 and 1986, Dave Croston was the Packers' third-round pick but played only two seasons (1987-88).
1988 – Keith Woodside – RB, Texas A&M
Keith Woodside became the best 61st-pick in team history when the Packers took him with the sixth pick of the third round in 1988. He had 2,224 total yards and eight touchdowns in four years (1988-91).
2013 – Eddie Lacy – RB, Alabama
Fifteen years after Woodside's productive four-year career, Eddie Lacy was selected late in the second round and surpassed Woodside's 29th-pick value. The former Alabama star had 4,435 total yards and 29 touchdowns in four seasons before leaving for Seattle.
