Shippensburg will be out for revenge in this one, as West Chester was their only loss on the season in a divisional tilt that precluded the Raiders from appearing in the PSAC Title Game against IUP.
A rematch in the first round seemed to be a shock to most fans of D2 Football, especially to these two squads. West Chester is coming off a loss to IUP in the PSAC Title match, but gave a good enough fight to be the only 3-loss team included in the regional.
Both offenses have power, but in different styles. Ship is led by QB Ryan Zapoticky who combined for 31 touchdowns to just 5 interceptions this year. Jarel Elder carries the torch for WCU, and was named the PSAC East Offensive Player of the Year for his efforts.
At home, looking for revenge and having the more consistent balance between offense and defense this season, everything adds up to Shippensburg getting the job done. This win would signify that Ship may have been the rightful PSAC East champs, and give them a big boost ahead. Oh, and the winner of this game gets IUP in the next round too.
