FCS RECRUITING: Ohio Valley Conference Rankings

HERO Sports will take you conference-by-conference with FCS recruiting, and let you know who has the class to be coveted.

Today we rank the Ohio Valley Conference.

Today's ranking (below) takes into account only high school recruits who have committed to FCS schools (NOTE: JUCOs and other transfers will be evaluated later this spring). Further updates will continue through national signing day. How do we rank? We pay more attention to the scholarship offers an athlete received than any kind of star rating from a recruiting service. If an FCS recruit holds 17 offers and 6 are of the FBS variety? That will rank him above a recruit who holds three — we let the colleges do the evaluations of film, they're the ones who get paid well to do that. Full final rankings will be released for teams and prospects on Monday, Feb. 11 at 12 p.m. ET[divider]

RECRUITING SCHEDULE: Conf. by Conf. – And The Grand Finale[divider]

BMAC'S OVC TAKE:

RK FCS SCHOOL CONF. CLASS
1 Jacksonville State OVC 22
2 Tennessee Tech OVC 26
3 Eastern Kentucky OVC 23
4 Murray State OVC 23
5 Tennessee-Martin OVC 29

On the field, Jacksonville State has been the king of the OVC for years. In the recruiting world, the Gamecocks have once again been impressive. But JSU is being challenged this year by the likes of Tennessee-Martin, Eastern Kentucky, Murray State … you name it. These programs and others within the OVC are challenging the Gamecocks in the recruiting realm, as they began to do this year on the field. Honestly, the OVC as a whole has been incredible in January and even prior. Tennessee-Martin signed an enormous class back in December, also, impressing people nationally, not just regionally.

THE WINNER?: Jacksonville State by a hair in this very crowded upper echelon of Tennessee Tech, Eastern Kentucky, Murray State and Tennessee Martin. There is a razor thin margin separating these classes this year.

THE UPSTARTS?: Hey, Tennessee Tech may have struggled on the field last year, but it isn't struggling on the recruiting trail. Four of its current recruits held multiple FBS offers/options, but they'll be playing for TTech this fall.

HOTTEST IN JANUARY?: This is easy — Tennessee State. The Tigers have been on a rampage in recent weeks.[divider]
