The Aztecs are hot off of a 20-17 win at home against No. 19 Stanford that vaulted SDSU into the top 25. San Diego State outgained Stanford by 99 yards, turned the Cardinal over three times, and controlled the time of possession 41:14 to 18:46.
Led by a 32-carry, 175 yard, 1 touchdown performance from running back Rashaad Penny, San Diego State proved it has the capability to hang, and win, in a spotlight matchup.
The Aztecs are 3-0 heading into Saturday's game with wins over UC Davis and Arizona State as well as Stanford.
Air Force, meanwhile, heads into the game with a 1-1 record after opening the season with a blowout win over VMI 62-0 and hanging tough with No. 7 Michigan last week in a 29-13 loss.
The Michigan game opened some eyes for Falcons fans — while Michigan's offense is nothing to be excited about, their defense is the real deal. Facing a tough front seven, Air Force ran for 168 yards, and quarterback Arion Worthman connected with Ronald Cleveland for a 64-yard touchdown pass.
Air Force showed they can contend with a team that has playoff aspirations, and they'll face another strong foe this weekend.
