SEC on CBS Announces Initial Schedule, Including September 9 Showdown with Big 12

The SEC on CBS announced today its broadcasting windows for the 2017 season, including the network's opener on September 9, the first conference matchup a week later, the date for Army versus Navy in December, and its lone bowl telecast.

Unlike last season when the network kicked things off during week 1 of the college season with UCLA at Texas A&M, the SEC on CBS won't get going until week 2 when TCU travels to Arkansas.

The first conference game broadcast takes place a week later when Tennessee travels to Florida.

Other SEC games confirmed this week include Georgia at Florida on October 28 and Missouri at Arkansas on November 24.

The network will also show the traditional classic between Army and Navy on December 9 and the Sun Bowl later that month on December 29. Last year's matchup pitted Stanford against North Carolina.

Another highlight from the announcement include a trio of double headers in November. All matchups will be announced anywhere from 6 to 12 days before that Saturday's game.

The Missouri at Arkansas matchup takes place the day after Thanksgiving. Not a bad way to spend the day as you scarf down leftover turkey sandwiches.

Fans will also get their first taste of veteran announcer Brad Nessler who will be taking over for the now-retired Vern Lundquist. Although the former ESPN NFL and college football play-by-play man is almost a shoe-in to sound great alongside Gary Danielson, it'll be strange for a while not to hear Vern's voice pulsating outwards from the television on Saturdays.
