Nancy Lieberman, Old Dominion
Coming out of Far Rockaway, Nancy Lieberman blazed a trail in women's hoops from 1977-80. Old Dominion went 125-15 with her on the roster as Lieberman stockpiled points and rebounds, closing her four-year career with 2,430 points (18.1 per game) and 1,167 rebounds (8.7). She also had 961 assists. Lieberman was honored with the Wade Trophy twice, was a First Team All-American three times and was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 1999. "Lady Magic" played for the Dallas Diamonds in the WBL, where she was the No. 1 draft pick of the team. She also became a regular opponent of the Harlem Globetrotters. At 39 years old, Lieberman played for the Phoenix Mercury in the inaugural season of the WNBA and later became the GM and head coach of the Detroit Shock.
