The D2 football season has begun, but HERO Sports still is in the midst of its positional rankings.
RANKINGS: Quarterback | Wide Receiver | Tight End | Running Back | Interior OL | Offensive Tackles | Defensive Line | Linebackers
The following rankings are based on three categories. The categories were then ranked 1-6, with one being the best value, and then added up to acquire a total point sum. That total point sum was then ranked from smallest to largest to rank the top six defensive backs in D2 football. The three categories observed were career experience, 2015 stats and 2015-16 honors.
6. Jonah McCutcheon, Tuskegee Golden Tigers (15 Points)
Experience: Redshirt-Junior (16 Games)
2015 Stats: 40 Tackles, 5 Pass Break-Ups, 7 Interceptions
2015 All-SIAC First Team, 2016 HERO Sports First Team Preseason All-American
Starting off the countdown is the lone representative of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Jonah McCutcheon established himself in 2015 with a breakout season, hauling in seven picks and breaking up five passes. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Mobile, Alabama product helped lead Tuskegee to the program's first ever playoff victory. He has two pass breakups and three tackles in the first two games of 2016.
