HERO Sports is counting down the 100 days until the kickoff of the 2018 college football season on Saturday, Aug. 25, with daily trivia. Each day, from May 17 through Aug. 24, we'll publish one college football trivia question.
How many total touchdowns were scored by FBS teams during the entire 2017 season?
Unless you're an obsessive stats guy (or cheat), most fans likely have no idea where to begin, so we'll get you started with a couple pushes in the right direction:
Fifty teams scored at least 50 touchdowns.
UCF and Oklahoma ranked first and second in the FBS with 84 and 83 touchdowns each, respectively. The 167 touchdowns equaled nearly three percent of the total touchdowns.
How close can you get to the correct answer? Within a few hundred?
The top 50 teams accounted for more than half of the total touchdowns (3,014) and UCF and Oklahoma accounted for 2.8 percent of all touchdowns.
