UNLV head coach Tony Sanchez is embracing Sin City like no other coach in program history. And the Runnin' Rebels' latest marketing and recruiting ploy is perfect.
In August 2015, one week before the start of his first season at UNLV, the Las Vegas Review-Journal asked Sanchez to stand in front of the 'Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas' sign for a photo shoot to accompany a feature article.
"He was all too happy to do it, and even brought along his wife, Tessie, and their two kids," wrote Mark Anderson.
Sanchez, who was hired from nearby Bishop Gorman High School in December 2014, is not trying to hide the program's proximity to dozens of casinos and resorts on the Las Vegas Strip.

“The biggest thing is embracing Las Vegas,” Sanchez told Anderson. “I think for a long time, it’s been one of those things where people have kind of hidden it. It’s like, ‘We’re UNLV, but don’t worry about Vegas.’ We are Las Vegas. We’re a vibrant community of great opportunities, the entertainment capital of the world. And we want to be a part of that.”
And that attitude continues to be prevalent in Sanchez's program. On Wednesday, they dropped a hilarious video inspired by ESPN's This is SportsCenter series.
