A ton of preparation goes into every week of the college football season, particularly the first week. Teams have limited practice time to learn the playbook and how to play together, so every team adopts a sense of urgency during fall camp. The players and coaches haven’t suited up against another team in months, so there are always some kinks to work out during week one.
Behind the scenes, somewhere in the dungeons of the stadiums and locker rooms, equipment managers also have long to-do lists prior to their team’s first game. From stitching jerseys to washing gear to painting helmets, equipment managers are typically busiest right before the season kicks off.
