Jonathan Figueroa did something on Thursday night that will prompt football fans to wonder, “Why don’t college and NFL teams try this?”
Figueroa is a senior kicker for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School, a public school in San Juan, Texas, just a few miles from the Mexico border. He posted a video to his Hudl page that shows him executing a perfectly simple onside kick that’s impossible to defend if the return team doesn’t see it coming.

Watch as Figueroa uses his pitching wedge to loft the ball toward the sideline, where a teammate was waiting to make a toe-tapping grab.
