Here’s a yearly event I didn’t know took place.
Apparently, Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor hosts a celebrity basketball game every year as part of his Kam Cares Foundation. Of course, the event is called Bam Bam’s Spring Jam Celebrity Basketball Game, because when you’re Kam freaking Chancellor, you can pretty much do whatever the hell you want.
Here’s some highlights from past years.
Plus, check out Kam’s hops:
This year’s game took place in Norfolk, Virginia — Kam is a former Virginia Tech Hokie, after all — on May 27, so, yeah, this news is a bit old. But it’s still pretty damned funny.
Apparently, Washington Redskins cornerbacks Josh Norman got posterized on Saturday when he attempted to stop an opponent from making a layup. Here is the highlight:
Of course, as clarified by CBS Sports, the player who committed said dunk wasn’t just some bum off the street. Actually, it was New York Knickerbocker forward Kyle O’Quinn, who has a good 10 inches on Norman — he’s 6-foot-10 compared to Norman’s 6-foot frame.
So, while the play in question is pretty cool to watch, especially considering the victim, one has to keep things in perspective. Hubris prompted Norman to attempt a block on a near 7-foot NBA player and it backfired.
No matter. The event was a huge success attended by thousands of sports fans, who came out in droves to see their favorite athletes, including Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor, Chicago Bears cornerback BW Webb, Kam’s teammate Cliff Avril, and many more.
