College football bowl season kicks off Saturday, Dec. 17, and the first day of action includes the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl, which features a matchup between Appalachian State and Toledo.
If you've never heard of the Camellia Bowl, it's not surprising. The game has only been around since 2014.

Bowling Green won the inaugural Camellia Bowl 33-28 over South Alabama in 2014, and last year Appalachian State defeated Ohio 31-29.
The 9-3 Mountaineers will look to make it two wins in a row this year when they take on the 9-3 Toledo Rockets.
Appalachian State is led by quarterback Taylor Lamb (2,162 yards, 14 TD) and running back Jalin Moore (1,367 yards, 10 TD), and the Mountaineers' offense scores 29.1 points per game. The defense allows 20.0 points per game.
The Rockets, meanwhile, lean on QB Logan Woodside (3,882 yards, 43 TD) and wide receiver Cody Thompson (59 catches, 1,170 yards, 10 TD). The passing attack is balanced with a strong running game from back Kareem Hunt (1,355 yards, eight TD).
Toledo puts up 38.8 points per game while allowing 25.3 per contest.
Appalachian State's defense gives up less than 200 passing yards per game, so Saturday's contest should be a good test of a strong passing offense against a stingy pass defense. Oddsmakers currently consider the game even, with an over/under of 60 points.
Saturday's bowl game will be the first meeting of these two teams.
