Tyson Chandler – UCLA
UCLA’s Steve Lavin was among dozens of coaches pursuing California high school phenom Tyson Chandler. He reportedly made a verbal commitment to the Bruins but it was considered very soft and, ultimately, irrelevant because he opted for the 2001 NBA Draft. After taking Darius Miles third overall a year earlier, the Clippers also took Chandler, this time at second overall. He was traded to the Chicago Bulls on draft night.
