The 2020 WNBA All-Rookie team was announced over the weekend and featured some of the top newcomers to the league.
Minnesota Lynx Crystal Dangerfield highlights the All-Rookie squad after being named the leagues Rookie of the Year nearly a week prior. Dangerfield is joined by Julie Allemand (Indiana Fever), Chennedy Carter (Atlanta Dream), Jazmine Jones (New York Liberty) and Satou Sabally (Dallas Wings). Dangerfield helped lead the Minnesota Lynx to the WNBA Playoffs this season, while the other four rookies did not make the playoffs with their teams
The WNBA’s 12 head coaches pick the group of five and players can receive a maximum of 11 votes each. Dangerfield, Allemand, Carter and Sabally each received max votes at 11 while Jazmine Jones received six total votes.
Julie Allemand was drafted by the Indiana Fever in 2016, but did not compete in the WNBA until this season. She joined the Fever as a free agent in the spring and started all 22 games for Indiana.
Chennedy Carter declared early for the draft following her junior year at Texas A&M. The Atlanta Dream guard led all rookies in scoring at 17.4 points per game despite missing six games in the regular season due to an ankle injury.
Dallas Wings forward. Satou Sabally, also declared early for the WNBA following a decorate career at Oregon. She led all rookies in rebounding at 7.9 rebounds per game and recorded five double-doubles this season.
Jazmine Jones was one of the many fresh faces on the New York Liberty this season. Jones led all rookies in steals at 1.4 per game and appeared in all but two games for the Liberty this year.
