The 2017 NFL Draft will see talented college football players finding new homes in the NFL come April. Among them are several stars off the roster of the Alabama Crimson Tide.
In recent years, the Tide have produced NFL stars Amari Cooper (Rd. 1, 2015 — Oakland Raiders), Landon Collins (1, 2015 — NY Giants), Dont'a Hightower (1, 2012 — New England Patriots) and Julio Jones (1, 2011 — Atlanta Falcons).
This year's class is loaded, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.
HEROSports.com's NFL Draft Analyst Todd Worly has ranked eight Alabama prospects in the Top 60.
Here are his assessments of each:
Allen has the elite power and hands to become a force to be reckoned with both against the run and the pass as a 3-4 defensive end for years to come. |
A player with the physicality and nastiness of a strong safety that can cover like a top corner? Yes, please, as that describes Humphrey to a tee. |
Foster’s explosiveness and range may be a notch below that of Florida star Jarrad Davis and Vanderbilt standout Zach Cunningham, but his instincts and physicality are a cut above. All three of these players are very close in ability and upside. |
Williams possesses elite explosiveness off the edge, which is always valuable in today’s NFL, and he’s therefore someone a team can plug in right away. How much value he can bring to the table against the run will likely determine how highly he’s drafted and the trajectory of his NFL career. |
While this offensive tackle class isn’t the deepest or most talented at the top, Robinson is clearly the best prospect. He is the safest bet in the bunch to be a potential starter in year one and be a solid starter — at the very least — for years to come. |
Howard’s combination of size, hands and ability to create separation and stretch the defense will present matchup problems for opponents of his future team. |
Stewart has the combination of explosiveness, suddenness and top end speed to match some of the receivers ranked ahead of him, and is the best blocking receiver in this draft class. Playing in a run-first offense, he's yet prove his hands and elusiveness after the catch are at the same level. |
Anderson’s length, explosiveness and feet may be slightly behind the 3-4 outside linebackers ranked ahead of him on this list, but the Crimson Tide standout still has the skill set to become a solid NFL starter early in his career. |
