There were 35 Group of Five teams that played in college football bowl games last season. That included a record-high 12 teams from the Sun Belt.

How Many FBS Bowls Are There?
There are 35 FBS bowls during the 2024 season, not including the College Football Playoff, meaning 70 teams will make a bowl while another 12 teams will be in the CFP.
