Memphis went into the season as one of the favorites to win the AAC and make the College Football Playoff as a Group of Five team.
But a couple conference losses to Navy and UTSA, both on the road, prevented that from happening. Still, Memphis had a phenomenal season with a 10-2 overall record. The Tigers defeated Florida State early in the season, went 6-2 in AAC play, and won at then No. 17-ranked Tulane 34-24 to conclude the regular season.
The Tigers can end the year with their fourth straight victory as they will go up against West Virginia in the Frisco Bowl. Memphis won its bowl game last season over another Power Four opponent, Iowa State, in the Liberty Bowl.

Memphis vs. West Virginia Prediction
I predict Memphis will win and cover the spread at -6. I also project the game will go Over 60.5 total points.
The Tigers’ offense has been absolutely phenomenal this season. Going into bowl season, they ranked in the top 25 in points scored (35.5 per game) and yards gained (442.1 per game).
West Virginia, meanwhile, isn’t in the top 50 in terms of scoring offense or total offense – or scoring defense or total defense for that matter.
Memphis wasn’t spectacular on defense this season. The Tigers gave up over 40 points to North Texas, UTSA, and Navy, for example. However, they have gotten better on that side of the ball in recent weeks. They’ve won their last three games and haven’t given up more than 24 points during that stretch.
Most recently, they ruined Tulane’s hopes of a College Football Playoff berth when Memphis defeated the Green Wave 34-24 to conclude the regular season.
I believe the Tigers are well-equipped for this matchup. I expect them to put up more than 40 points in a victory.
