After years of anticipation, “College Football 25” was the highest-grossing sports video game ever. And EA Sports followed that up with another strong game last year.
I have personally played and loved both editions. I’ve played “College Football 26” more than any other game on my PlayStation 5. I thoroughly enjoyed being the head coach of a Group of Six school and playing against my friends in Dynasty mode.
It felt EA Sports put a lot of thought and care into these games. So I have reason to believe “College Football 27” will be even better.

When Does College Football 27 Come Out?
The College Football 27 release date hasn’t been announced yet. However, EA Sports said it will have a June 4 event that will showcase more for the game.
College Football 26 came out on July 10, 2025, with the MVP bundle and Deluxe Edition available three days earlier. College Football 25 came out on July 19, 2024.
So it’s reasonable to think CFB 27 could come out in early-to-mid July.
Who’s On The Cover Of This Year’s College Football Game?
The cover of this year’s College Football game will feature Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy, Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney, and Oregon quarterback Dante Moore. The deluxe edition features a few more people, including Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti.
Here’s more about Lacy, Toney, and Moore:
Ole Miss Running Back Kewan Lacy
Lacy, who started his collegiate career at Missouri before going to Ole Miss last season, was an All-American in 2025.
He was second in the FBS with 24 rushing touchdowns and third with 1,567 yards on the ground while averaging 5.1 yards per carry. He also caught 29 passes for 177 yards.
Lacy absolutely is one of the biggest stars of the sport right now.
Oregon QB Dante Moore
If I were solely in charge of picking the cover athlete, I would’ve gone with Moore.
Moore is regarded as an early NFL Draft prospect and is one of the top five to 10 favorites to win the Heisman. He’s also coming off a great season where he threw for 3,565 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions on a 72% completion rate and led the Ducks to a College Football Playoff semifinal appearance.
Oregon should be in the national title picture once again this season, and therefore Moore will have plenty of visibility if he keeps improving with another season.
Miami WR Malachi Toney
Toney stood out among non-quarterbacks.
Toney hasn’t been on the cover yet, and he’s regarded as one of the best wide receivers in college football. In 2025, he led the country with 109 receptions while ranking fifth with 1,211 yards and tying for 12th with 10 touchdowns.
And considering Miami just made a run to the national championship, Toney is on a good team as well.
