Louisiana was the most dominant team in the Sun Belt for most of the regular season. In fact, the Ragin’ Cajuns were thought of as a Group of Five team that could potentially make the College Football Playoff.
Louisiana won eight of its first nine games in 2024. The Rajun’ Cajuns only lost to Tulane, another one of the best teams in the G5 this year, and that was a one-possession game. Louisiana also defeated Wake Forest 41-38 in its last non-conference contest.
And Louisiana kept winning during its conference slate, only losing to South Alabama by two points. The Ragin’ Cajuns seemed like they were poised to win a Sun Belt championship.
But Louisiana fell 31-3 against Marshall in the conference title game. As disappointing as that was, Louisiana has a chance to end what has still been an impressive season with another win.
The Ragin’ Cajuns will square off with TCU in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl.

Louisiana vs. TCU Prediction
I predict TCU will win but Louisiana will cover the 10.5-point spread. I also project the game will go Over 58.5 total points.
While playing in different conferences, these two teams were pretty comparable in terms of their offensive production.
TCU was 27th in the FBS in scoring offense (33.4 points per game) and 29th in total offense (431.8 yards per game). Louisiana was 30th in both of those categories after averaging 33.1 points and 431 yards per game.
Louisiana was slightly better on defense, though. The Ragin’ Cajuns were in the top 50 in scoring defense (23.4 points per game allowed) and were 55th in total defense (347 yards per game allowed). TCU was 81st with 26.4 points per game allowed and 55th with 357 yards per game allowed.
So in other words, offense is a strong suit for both of these squads. I think TCU will prove to be the better team, but I also believe Louisiana will score enough to keep this game close.
