I predict Pitt will win and cover the spread at -23.5. I also project the game will go Over 55.5 total points.
Kent State was last in the MAC last season in terms of scoring defense, allowing 34.6 points per game. The Golden Flashes could be better defensively than they were, but they would have to make drastic improvements in one offseason to keep up with Pitt in this game.
However, I could see Kent State scoring some points in this matchup. Led by All-MAC wide receivers Chrishon McCray and Luke Floriea, the Golden Flashes return nine starters from their offense in 2023.
That continuity should help them make this an entertaining Week 1 game.
